Sorry For Being MIA!

Hi Everyone!

I've been seriously MIA for a while now and I am so sorry to any of you that might have missed me.
I just wanted you all to know that I'm in the middle of moving 2 households (mine and my parents) to another city. So, things have been a little crazy for me.
I hope to be working on a new Thanksgiving-ish layout for my blog very soon. So, watch for that. And of course, I hope to come up with a few more new scripts and/or scrap elements.
Hugs,
Karin

Swamped & Proximidade Award

Good Evening, Friends!

I've been away for a bit as I've been super swamped at work with month end and all the wonderful financial reports that go with that (they're not done yet) and the annual anniversary dinner and auction at work that was held on this past Thursday evening. To top those off was me getting a doozy of a cold on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. Oh man, I have been so miserable. I went to bed early on Wednesday (thank goodness for DVR's - I didn't miss the great new Wednesday night shows). Thursday, I was at work early and didn't get to bed until 12:30 AM Friday. I did leave work at 1:45 yesterday and was napping by 2 PM. My lungs were so rattly, I thought I was a smoker again! AND I took a giant nap today, woohoo!

Anyway...I log into the blog today and I have over 10,000 hits! WOW! And I have a new award that was given to me by Krissy at Krissy's Scraps. Thank you so much, friend!

This award is called the "Proximidade Award" or "Friendship Around The World Award". Originally, this award was written in spanish, but it translates to highlight blogs that are pleasing or special in some way, but also to extend the hand of friendship around the world. And I am all for reaching out to our friends on the other side of this world along with my neighborhood friends. And now I am supposed to pass this award on to 8 great blogs. They are:

Chynna - Blame Chynna (Canada) http://blamechynna.blogspot.com/
Rose - Cinnamon Scraps (Italy) http://cinnamonscraps.blogspot.com/
Kitty - A Story Time (Indonesia) http://a-story-time.blogspot.com/
Conny - VanillaDesignz (Germany) http://vanilladesignz.blogspot.com/
Lisa - Sophisticated Scraps (New Zealand) http://sophisticatedscraps.blogspot.com/
Sabre - The Quill and Parchment (USA) http://sabresquillandparchment.blogspot.com/
Clarey - Clarey's Designz (UK) http://clareysdesignz.blogspot.com/
Vix - VixPSP (UK) http://vixpsp.blogspot.com/
Give these blogs a visit. I'm sure you'll find some great works there!

You try to do something nice!

I am pretty sad and upset at the moment.

I'm contemplating not doing freebie scripts anymore. The reason why is someone in a digital scrap group where I announced my freebie has come out with a kit and is going to sell ribbons in her "store" (which will be opening soon) that matches my fancy edged ribbon. I can lay one of my ribbons on top of their preview and it matches in all curves and shading.

If you download and use any of my freebies, please read the terms of use! No one but me is going to profit from my work. Writing a script takes hours. So, no kits or elements or embellishments that are made using any of my scripts may be sold. The work is protected by copyright.

Even if you were going to offer a freebie kit or set of elements or embellishments, it requires credit back to me.

So, when I yank my freebies, you can thank that person for spoiling it for the rest of you.

Upcoming Changes

I just wanted to give you guys a little bit of a scoop.

I've been making scripts, some of which you all have gotten to snag already. But the rest that I have right now are going to be commercial use ones and I will be selling them. Yup, I've got some super cool scripts for your tagging pleasure that I will be making available to you for a small fee. Don't worry though....I'll still have freebies!

I had hoped to find a store to sell in, but there are so many out there, it's mind-boggling. I've decided I'm just going to do it myself right from my blog. I just need to figure out the Pay Pal and shopping cart thing.

I'm pretty excited about this and hope that you guys are too!

Hugs,
Karin

Blog Make-Over

I've visited lots of blogs lately and it inspired me to try and do something more with mine. So, I worked on it most of today. Trying to figure out the right place to put a code was mind-boggling, but I persisted! I'm very happy with how it turned out. The only issue I still have is my header is not quite centered and it should be! If anyone out there knows how to fix this, let me know!

Hugs,

Karin

Happy Labor Day!

Good Morning, Everyone!

It's September 1st today........where has the summer gone?

Yesterday was my baby's 21st birthday. WOW! What an interesting experience that was on Saturday night to Sunday morning. Kyle hooked up with his big sister and her boyfriend and friends and Kyle's friends that are already 21 joined them as well. I have to say that I am proud of my daughter. As expected, there was lots of drinking and Kyle drank to excess. He apparently puked all over the patio when they got home after the bars closed. But....big sister to the rescue. She took care of him and made him stay awake until he was not so drunk. She plied him full of water and whatever else. When he woke up on Sunday (early) afternoon, he said he felt good other than being tired.

I love the fall. The cooler breezes are so welcome but here is September and we're going to be around 90 degrees the next couple of days. It's a good thing I'm a patient person.

I have had a very very busy week at work, but I did manage a freebie for you yesterday. I will be back in a bit with that posted for you all.

TOU for Free-To-Use Scripts

A friend asked me today if it was OK to use my scripts to make elements for one of her scrap kits. I thought I had answered that question in my TOU, but when I re-read them, I see that I was unclear. So, I'm going to post my TOU for those purposes here.

(you might want to paste this into a notepad document and save them)
******************************************************

Terms of Use for Free To Use Scripts
© Karin Herd 2008

It's very simple, really. I created this script, so please do not claim as your own. This script is intended for PERSONAL USE ONLY! This means you cannot use it to make this for a scrap kit and then sell the kit. Or, use it in a tag and then sell the tag. If anyone is going to make money off of this FREE script, it's me! I'm sure you can understand that.

Personal use includes making scraps for your own FREE-TO-USE kits that you'd like to share.

I'd love for you to tell your friends about my script(s), but please do not share the script. Please send your friends to my blog, instead. I'd also appreciate it if you would mention my blog if you make elements for a kit from one of my scripts.

Other questions? Just ask me!

Thanks!

PSP Ric-Rac Script

Hi Everyone!

I've been tagging for a little more than 4 years. A couple of years ago, I started doing a little bit of scripting (very simple, adding effects to a name for mass tag creation).

When I started making scraps, I'd work on something until it was how I liked it and then I'd script it for myself so I could make it over and over for kits or whatever. So, now I'm going to share this one with all of you. I redid this script so it is interactive for easier use by you.

I truly would appreciate your comments if you go ahead and download it, so please comment! Also, please make sure you read my instructions and TOU in the zip file.

Get the script HERE.

Be A Star And Sparkle!

Life continues to be chaotic for me and when I wanted to make something for Independence Day, all I could muster by then was the patriotic Ric-Rac (included in this kit). A week later, I started to get inspiration for more bits and this kit was born. There are a bunch more elements than what you see in the preview. I hope someone enjoys this kit. NOTE: This kit is intended for tagging (72 DPI).
